Dr. Elizabeth Avery Gomez |

Information Systems Researcher and Specialist Elizabeth Avery Gomez earned her Ph.D. in Information Systems at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and is an Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) fellow. She teaches undergraduate technical writing, database fundamentals and telecommunication fundamentals. Her research interests include: how information communication technology (ICT) can improve communication in crisis management, in communities of need, and for active learning. Her primary focus is on the improving e-readiness of individuals before engaging in collaborative settings. Liz’s research focus in on crisis response and the use of communication protocols between wireless technologies to assist local communities of need. Her research introduces a web-based training application with SMS text-message communication protocols as an approach to increase individual readiness to respond in a crisis. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program, Liz was an independent consultant for over 15 years in New Jersey working with major pharmaceuticals, retail, and finance organizations specializing in business reengineering, systems integration, database design, and web development. She received her MS in Professional and Technical Communications from NJIT in 2004 and is the 2006-2008 president of the Society for Technical Communicators (STC) student chapter at NJIT. |
